Started like this :
I met designer Alyasha Owerka Moore whe I was 18. He had done Phat Farm, Mecca, Dub & Droors and went on to create Fiber Ops and Alphanumerics. It was my dream because it involved art, culture, music and lifestyle. It was the first career I could see myself doing for 8 to 10 hours a day.
Early on I met Rickey Kim of Evilmonito. Rickey is a brilliant marketer. He really helped me with his support and just believing in my vision. Everything I learned in Guerilla Marketing stem from Mr. Kim.
Jon Phenom Exclusives:
One day I just grabbed my mothers old sewing machine and made a courier bag. From there I made pillows, bags & purses. The first pair took me a week and a half. People would constantly ask where I got my jeans. About a month later I made my first serious order for $200. I did that one in 3 days. Eventualy I was selling them for $450 a pair and sewing them together in 4 hrs from scratch. The Process:
Reserch is important in finding out who your central customer is. You have to take into account music, media and culture. Creating the product is the easier part for me. Delivering the right product is the challenge. Fashion is volitile and changes frequently.
